What Is The Correct Tyre Pressure And Why It Matters?

Check your tyre pressure at least once a month. For more accurate readings, check the pressure on cold tyres.

The correct tyre pressure can be found in the user manual. Also, this information may be found in markings on the vehicle. For example, near the driver’s door or on the inside of the petrol flap.

There will be 2 different tyre pressures listed:

  • Usual driving conditions
  • For loaded vehicles

Why the correct tyre pressure matters?

Safety

With the correct tyre pressure, the grips of tyres on roads are more secure. This leads to more precise steering. Braking distances will decrease, reducing the chances of collisions and accidents.

Save Fuel

When your tyres are at the correct pressure, the fuel consumption is lower. This is due to the decrease in friction and drag of tyres across the ground.

Longer Tyre Lifespan

The endurance of tyres will increase when the tyres are at optimum tyre pressure. The tyres will not wear out as fast as there will not be any unnecessary friction between the tyres and the ground, especially in the cases of under-inflated tyres.
