Benefits of Run Flat Tyres

What are Run Flat Tyres?

Run Flat Tyres are tyres that can still be used for driving despiteĀ a puncture, usually up to 50 miles (80 kilometres) with a speed limit of 50 mph (80 km/h).

There are 2 types of Run Flat Tyres availableĀ at Goh Swee Hin:

  • Self-Supporting
  • Auxiliary Supported / Support Ring

For Self-Supporting Run Flat Tyres, the sidewalls of the tyres are made of reinforced rubber that are stiffer and tougher. This enables the Self-Supporting Run Flat Tyre to temporarily support the vehicle during a tyre puncture.

Auxiliary Supported or Support Ring Run Flat Tyres depend upon a special rim that has a protruding support ring made of hardened rubber or steel. The shape of the tyre is maintained in the event of a puncture.

What are the Benefits of Run Flat Tyres?

Run Flat Tyres make driving convenient and worry-free. You no longer have to worry about the sudden loss of control during a tyre puncture, reducing the risks of road accidents. For long drives, you can rest assured that you can still drive comfortably for a period of time after a puncture.

Also, your safety is ensured, as you do not have to change your tyres immediately in an inconvenient or uncomfortable situation. You no longer have to stop by the side of a dangerous highway, waiting for your vehicle to be towed. This is important especially for night driving and women driving alone.

By using Run Flat Tyres, you save fuel. No spare tyre, jack and tools are needed in the vehicle, thus reducing the weight of the vehicle. Worry no more about missing any important events or meetings due to unexpected tyre punctures.
