Rotating Tyres
To ensure that all 4 tyres wear out evenly, Goh Swee Hin encourages you to rotate your tyres every 10000 km, or every 6 months. Depending on the type of vehicle, either the front or rear tyres will wear out faster. By exchanging the front and rear tyres, the tyres will last longer.
Maintain Correct Tyre Pressure
Besides ensuring safety, the correct tyre pressure will lengthen the lifespan of your tyres. Under-inflation will increase rolling resistance, wearing out tyre treads faster. Over-inflation might cause tyres to be damaged easily when crossing potholes or debris on the ground. By maintaining the correct tyre pressure and conducting monthly checks, you can prevent excessive wear and tear.
Use Suitable Tyres
The same type of tyre should be used for all 4 wheel positions of your vehicle. Goh Swee Hin advises you to follow the guidelines provided by vehicle or tyre manufacturers for optimum tyre performance.
Balancing
Tyre balancing will prevent vibrations that cause premature tyre wear and tear. Special weights can be used to ensure the vehicle is completely balances. Besides, balancing also protects the suspension and steering system of your vehicle. This is important for an easier and safer ride.
